Wilderness Arts and Literacy Collaborative
Our vision is that low-income, inner-city students of color achieve greater academic success and grow into an interconnected community of activists as a result of their engagement in a transformative educational model that integrates environmental education and ecological principles with ethnic studies and social justice principles. We envision the dissemination of this model contributing to diversification within the field of environmental education and the environmental movement.
The students and staff of the Wilderness Arts and Literacy Collaborative would like to thank all of the individuals and foundations who have supported us in the past, and continue to do so as we build our future. WALC would not be possible without your kindness and generosity. Because of you over 500 students at two different high schools have experienced what you see in this website, and for over nine years five lucky teachers have had a wonderful way to teach.
Are you a WALC student or graduate with news and information to share with the WALC community? Please feel free to submit announcements, comments, stories and other communications to the Webmaster. We'll get it posted right away!
